Published Jan 29, 2016Alonso Melgar of We Are Not Ghosts graced the brewery's patio stage with what he dubbed to be a "special solo set." Armed with many pedals and a guitar, Melgar continually reinvented his sound as he built layers of noise. His guitar playing was atmospheric yet brash, featuring lots of reverb that entranced the audience as he began to loop tracks.
He took the sound in another direction as he began to pluck single notes, creating texture with his minimalist approach, then started riffing, added weight to the compositions. His unexpected performance, given that he was billed under his band's name, was a post-rock kaleidoscope of sound, hypnotic in its ever-changing nature.
