Published Oct 08, 2019Modern and traditional, country and rock, and themes of love all blend together for Canadian country musician Jason Benoit's EP, Revolution Pt.1.
"The title of the album was initially Evolution Pt. 1," Benoit said in a press release. "Evolution represented this album being a literal evolution of my songwriting, my sound and me as an artist, but when my management had an autocorrect typo and called it Revolution Pt. 1, we all agreed it was a more powerful message."
After the success of 2016's Waves, and his gold-certified Top 10 hit "Gone Long Gone," this time around sees Benoit collaborating with Toronto producer Gabe Gallucci, who's worked with Shawn Mendes and Francesco Yates. Single "I Won't Go" is an upbeat country Celtic tune, with banjo picking and electric guitar strumming throughout, while "Forget to Forget" is a mid-tempo country-pop, beach-set song with a banjo-mandolin melody.
"When We Know," a 1950s ballad about wanting a love you can't have, starts with a single electric guitar that quickly includes drums to flare up the beat. "Slow Hand," featuring Canadian country artist Leah Daniels, adds some '90s flavour to the EP. (Vicktory Music Group / Fontana North)
