Ozzy Osbourne Says He Was Asked to Join Van Halen
The idea of Ozzy Osbourne joining the ranks of Van Halen is a wild one, but as the Black Sabbath legend has explained, the offer was once on the table.

In a recent episode of SiriusXM show "Ozzy Speaks," he told a wild tale of Eddie Van Halen "drunk-dialling" him with an offer to join him in Van Halen.

"He phoned me up one time and asked me if I wanted to sing in his band — way after Sammy [Hagar had exited the group]," Osbourne recalled. "I think he was a bit drunk."

Ozzy added, "We've all done one of them — calling at four o'clock in the morning, going, [intentionally slurs speech]."

While it's a story that definitely seems a bit crazy, the thought of Ozzy joining Van Halen maybe isn't too far-fetched. After all, the band did open for Black Sabbath once upon a time in 1978.

"You think you've seen it all … out of the blue someone comes out with such a revolutionized way of playing," he said. "To watch Eddie play was, like — his hands would turn into a spider. He was remarkable. He always made it look like it was so easy."

Eddie Van Halen passed away earlier this moth at the age of 65.
