Yann Tiersen Announces Canadian Dates on North American Tour
Published Jan 10, 2011While the name might not ring any immediate bells, chances are if you're anywhere near a film buff, you've heard the work of French avant-garde minimalist composer/songwriter Yann Tiersen.
How so? He's most (in)famous as the mind behind that virulent accordion playing throughout 2001 film Amélie, 2003 German tragicomedy Good Bye Lenin! and, most recently, 2008 documentary Tabarly. Yep, Tiersen's the guy who created the original soundtrack to each of those award-winning pieces of cinematic gold.
Yet while that's his most obvious claim to fame, thanks to his sixth effort Dust Lane -- his first studio affair in a half-decade -- released late last year via Anti-, Tiersen is finally slated to tour Canada, with dates in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary, among other cities.
Catch him playing everything from piano, accordion, violin and guitar to whatever else comes across the stage at the Canadian dates below. And head here for a list of several more U.S. stops on the trek.
